As part of The Oaks’ modern approach to social care, we offer a specialized, fixed term service designed to help service users with learning disabilities enhance their life skills and achieve a more independent way of life.

Part of The Oaks is The Ground Floor Apartment which is a self-contained unit providing accommodation for up to two adults with learning disabilities. This focused service will enable service users to learn and develop the essential life skills needed for successful prospective independent/supported living placements, while giving them the security of a residential setting during their progression to greater independence.

The Oaks provides a comprehensive service in which we actively seek to promote independence. Individualised activity programmes are provided through Person Centred Planning that enhance service users’ skills and provide them with the confidence they need to maximize their potential.

Environment

The Ground Floor Apartment is a self contained unit within The Oaks, a residential home specialising in the care of younger adults with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and associated mental health problems. The apartment is newly modernized and compromises 2 bedrooms, bathroom, toilet, kitchen and lounge/diner. Outside there is a sunny and private garden. The apartment is all on ground floor level and may suit persons with mobility issues.

The Oaks' location in Malvern Link is ideal for service users to access the many facilities and community services in the Malvern area.

Staffing

Donna Taundry - Home Manger Designate for The Oaks

Donna Taundry is the Home Manager at The Oaks. Donna has had a lifetime of experience working with people with learning disabilities having grown up with both a brother and sister who both had severe learning disabilities. Donna has over 9 years experience of working with adults with learning disabilities and associated problems including behaviours that may challenge. Donna holds a Diploma, NVQ level 3 and 4, Registered Managers Award and an Advanced Health & Social Care Apprenticeship Award.

We recognise that the well being of staff reflects on the well being of those living at The Oaks and we provide ongoing professional development for all staff to ensure they can offer high quality care and support.

The Oaks is a registered ASDAN (Award Scheme Development & Accreditation Network) Centre. ASDAN enables service users to gain recognised qualifications within a wide range of programmes suited to individual abilities and interests.
