Care
We believe that all those who live at The Willows have the right to expect care and opportunities available to anyone living in their own home.
We recognise, respect and support individuality, encouraging each person to take as much control over their lives and decision making as they can, while offering care, support and guidance appropriate to their needs.
We understand that people change and we provide flexible services that can meet the changing needs and adapt accordingly.
What we offer and what this means:
Person Centred Care
This means that each person living at The Willows will have services and opportunities made available based on their current and perceived needs.
We review our services with each person regularly and reflect changes in their needs, wants and ambitions in our service delivery.
Maintaining Links with Family and Friends
We recognise how important family and friends are and we support those living at The Willows to maintain regular contact, using whatever means is appropriate e.g. visits, telephone, email and letter writing. This means they can retain a sense of belonging and past, as well as developing and maintaining new relationships in the future.
Progressive Care
We believe all people have the right to strive to achieve their full potential. We offer support, guidance and care based on assessed and updated goal planning. This means we will work with individuals and those significant in their lives to set and achieve short, medium and long term goals. We can help people achieve skills that may equip them for living more independently, and we can offer support to help people maintain skills they have, for as long as possible.
Links with Local Professionals & National Organisations
We have built up and established excellent working relationships with local professionals and we are associated members to a number of professional organisations. This means we can access high quality support for those living and working at Willow View and that we keep up to date with new developments. This ensures our services are modern and relevant, helping us achieve our key objectives of respect, dignity, choice and control.
Staffing
Gay Longhurst, Home Manager Designate has over 11 years experience working with people with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and mental health needs. She holds an NVQ 4 in Health & Social Care, Leadership & Management Award and NVQ 3 Business Administration.
We recognise that the well being of staff reflects on the well being of those living at The Willows and we provide ongoing professional development for all staff to ensure they can offer high quality care and support.
The Willows is a registered ASDAN (Award Scheme Development & Accreditation Network) Centre. ASDAN enables service users to gain recognised qualifications within a wide range of programmes suited to individual abilities and interests.
The Willows is also an internal moderator for ASDAN programs.
Daily Routine
The daily routine is designed around each service user’s requirements, using techniques such as predictable planning, multimedia or other communication methods tailored to individual preferences.
Environment
The Willows is a large, airy Victorian detached house with generous proportions which has been sympathetically modernised to meet the needs of our service user group.
In addition to ten bedrooms, most of which are about 20 sq m in size and thus much larger than normal for this type of home, there are four communal rooms in addition to a large, bright and modern kitchen. Some of the bedrooms are en suite, matching the character of the house. These are on the ground, first and second floors.
The spacious garden was landscaped by renowned garden designer Jane Edmonds to provide a mixture of spaces specifically for our service users. These include a relaxing water feature, a sensory garden, plenty of places to sit and paths to walk and explore and of course a barbeque area for those rare baking-hot days of high summer.
The Willows is situated close to the centre of the former market town of Warminster and is ideally situated to assist service user involvement in their local community. Shops, restaurants, clubs, associations, sports centre and a swimming pool are all in close proximity.
